On July 23, eight teens participated in Life Teen’s Summer of Service Day. We spent the day doing yard work for two home-bound parishioners. Before we left for our service day, we prayed with Matthew 25, where Christ tells His disciples: “Whatever you do for the least of these, you did it to me.”
During lunch, we reflected on how easy it is to fail to help those in need, particularly if we view that person as undeserving of help. We connected this to Christ’s death on the cross. Even though we didn’t deserve it, Christ died for us. This means, as Christians, we have the duty to love others like Christ did.
It’s easy for high school students to put in the hours required by their school to graduate. At Life Teen, the time spent serving is not our concern. Our concern is that the service is connected to the Gospel. Everything we do is centered around helping teens experience Christ in a personal way.
If you would like your child or grandchild to experience Christ in a personal way, register them for Life Teen at ArchangelGabrielParish.org/LifeTeenRegistration.
