God who created man out of love also calls him to love the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being. For man is created in the image and likeness of God who is himself love.90 Since God created him man and woman, their mutual love becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves man. It is good, very good, in the Creator's eyes. (CCC 1604)
On the threshold of his public life Jesus performs his first sign - at his mother's request - during a wedding feast.105 The Church attaches great importance to Jesus' presence at the wedding at Cana. She sees in it the confirmation of the goodness of marriage and the proclamation that thenceforth marriage will be an efficacious sign of Christ's presence. (CCC 1613)

Congratulations on your engagement! When you're planning a wedding, it's easy to get lost in the details or think of it simply as an "event" for a day. In the Catholic Church, we celebrate marriage as a sacrament - we celebrate the life that you're committing to build together, and that the love you have for one another will become a model of Christ's love for the world around you. Your marriage is a commitment between the two of you, but it is a gift from God to the rest of the world -- a world that your fidelity and love have the power to transform.
To celebrate your marriage in one of our Churches, contact Fr. Ken Marlovits (information below). He wilI schedule an interview with the two of you to ascertain that you are free to marry within the Roman Catholic Church, help you get your date secured, and assist you with any other paperwork and planning that may need to be done along the way.
