Vision Statement
Empowering parents as the primary faith formators of their children to lead the family into missionary discipleship.
What is a missionary disciple? A missionary disciple is a disciple who makes other disciples.
What is a disciple? A disciple is "a learner. To be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to be engaged in a lifelong process of learning from and about Jesus the master, Jesus the teacher" (Fr. James Mallon, Divine Renovation, page 20).
History
The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) was an association established at Rome in 1562 for the purpose of providing religious education. AGP's three predecessor parishes had traditional CCD classes for many years. In 2020, our newly consolidated parish moved from a traditional model of catechesis to a family model. Family Catechesis, or "Fam Cat," better enables our parish to equip, assist, and support parents to fulfill their role as primary formator of their children in the Faith. Children who attend public school receive their religious education with their parents through our ministry of Family Catechesis. Parents are assisted by catechists, who act as a teacher, guide, and witness to the Faith.

The Safe Environment Policy was created to take reasonable measures to assure that Church personnel who have regular contact with minors are committed to providing a safe environment for children and youth, are capable of identifying and preventing abuse of children, and have no personal history of behavior that would be a threat to children.
This policy applies to all Church personnel who have regular contact with minors. Church personnel is defined as all adult persons (those 18 years of age or older), whether clergy, members of consecrated life, or laity, who, as employees or volunteers, act in the name of the Church under the auspices of the Diocese of Pittsburgh or one of its parishes.
