On
Sunday, February 26
, Airen Lowenstein, with
catechumens
throughout the Diocese of
Pittsburgh, celebrated the Rite of Election with Bishop Zubik at St. Paul's Cathedral.
With the testimony of her sponsor, the signing of her name in the Book of the Elect, and her public declaration of her desire to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil, Airen concluded her period as a Catechumen and joined the ranks of the Elect.
I share with you the words of Bishop Zubik, as it is our call as Airen's parish community to pray with her and for her as she continues with her sacramental preparation: "We travel with these elect to the life-giving mysteries of our Lord's suffering, death and resurrection. They will look to us for an example of Christian renewal. Joined to one another in the Lord, let us pray for them and for ourselves, that we may be encouraged by each other's efforts, renewed by the Spirit of God, and together come to share the joys of Easter."
